Design & Analysis

After more than 10 years spent in shock absorber design (through SHOCK TECH sister company), 901D has developed tools and skills up to expertise in shock and vibration prediction of systems behavior.

In house shock and vibration simulation software allows sharp simulation of even most complicated shock mounted configurations. From full 3D simulation of rigid bodies (with a number of degree of freedom only limited by the computer performance), all parameters required to proper design, such as acceleration response, speed,

displacement, can be extracted. Non-linearity of absorber stiffness is obviously taken into account for shock in the simulation model. Deflection and strain at absorber can also be reached. This allows 901D engineers to the most accurate selection of mounts.  Complex models of MIL S 901 tests, like medium weight shock machine (MWSM), heavyweight test (barge test and soft deck) have been validated and tuned by comparison with experimental data gathered during experimental campaigns at approved Navy facilities.

FEM tools are also part of the 901D skills. Using NASTRAN, AUTOFEA and ANSYS, structural analysis of cabinets, as well as shock mounts optimization are performed. Working closely with NY universities, 901D and SHOCK TECH engineers remain the sole company reaching the expected target of less than 15g for MIL S 901D barge test (soft deck)

In order to satisfy customer needs regarding thermal management within cabinets, 901D has developed a range of cooling systems and achieved associated skills. From fan choice selection regarding thermal performances (such as air speed within subassemblies or pressure drop in cabinets) and noise impact, up to air-to-water cooling systems, 901D engineers can take the complete responsibility of rack thermal design.

Because EMI/RFI requirements have to be taken into consideration in the early design stage, 901D proposes cabinets suitable for the MIL STD 461 requirements. Of course, final performance of the populated cabinet will strongly depend on sub-assemblies, and 901D's engineering team can help you in lowering risk of non acceptance.
